Pocatello Music Club
"Music is the voice of the heart"! In 1937 The Pocatello Music Club was organized. In the same year it became part of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Upon the formal organization The Pocatello Music began to hold regular monthly meetings. The group made up of women, would attend in dresses, white gloves and hats! It was a very prestigious opportunity to be a member of music club. Being a member also came with responsibility; that being an advocate for music in the community as well as being a supporter of musical events. In 2014 some things have changed. No longer are meetings attended in hats, gloves and dresses, however the purpose remains strong and true. We support music in our community, as well as have the responsibility to promote, initiate, and build opportunities of high musical standards for future generations! The twenty first century has brought many new facets to our lives. With email, smart phones, Facebook, YouTube, and other ways of communicating we no longer have to meet physically on a monthly basis to see, as well as communicate with each other. This is a wonderful thing that has made our lives easier. However, the life changing experience of live music cannot be replicated through these ways of communicating. |
